Gut bugs (sounds gross!) gorge on the fiber and antioxidants in dark chocolate, fermenting them into compounds that have anti-inflammatory effects on the heart, says food scientist John Finley. It's double the impact when you pair dark chocolate with fruit, which also has the same compounds.
